Black Lesbian..................?
How many black Lesbian is there in Texarkana?
12.
I am a black lesbian american visiting Queensland Au. Anyone know of any friendly communities?
I will be traveling alone to Queensland in perhaps my summer June/July 2008. Anyone know any gay/lesbian friendly or Places that don't discriminate against black americans much? Any info will be helpful thanks.
Freya is right. Noosa, on the Sunshine Coast, which is not far north of Brisbane will be a great place to visit. You can swim at lovely beaches too. There are a lot of different alternative-lifestyle community people on the Sunshine Coast and Noosa is where the action is at. I have a friend there who bought a holiday house and he rents it out almost all through the year to gays from overseas.

Queenslanders are alright and friendly. They all watch American TV and will recognise that you're not an Australian black (the Aboriginals who do sometimes get discriminated against). You'll just be another tourist. Blokes will probably try to crack onto you ;)

People in remote towns in our deep north might stare because you look interesting to them (we don't have many African immigrants in Australia). But don't assume that their staring is discriminatory. Noone is going to refuse you a drink in a bar or move away because you sit next to them on the bus. But if you're impatient, arrogant or talk really loudly in public you might get a few not-so-nice stares, only because Aussies just don't like those sorts of Americans no matter what colour or sexuality they are.
Have a great time.
Do you think its a question of low self esteem if a black lesbian prefers to date white lesbians?
When you meet an interracial lesbian relationship, do you chalk it up to the black woman's low self esteem?
Depends on why. If you feel the need to justify your relationship by putting women of other races down, to me, that is low self-esteem. I don't have a problem with interracial relationships, as long as you see them as a person, not a white person, a black person, but just Katie, or Karen.

It doesn't make you have low self esteem to prefer to date white girls. Just like it doesn't make me a bigot to prefer other black girls.
How can I help my wife Sandy not be ashamed of being a black lesbian?
She keeps trying to pass as white and straight. Yesterday she went missing, but I eventually found her hiding in the closet.

She is so ashamed, I want to help her but she refuses to embrace being a black lesbian.
This seriously made my day

Thanks so much lol
What's your favorite black lesbian book or novel?
I personally love anything by Fiona Zedde, Skyy or Renee Bess. My favorite book, though, is Water in a Broken Glass by Odessa Rose. What black lesbian book floats your boat?
Black Lesbian Novels? I never knew there was such a thing.

O_O

I gotta start living!
Do you think the lack of Black lesbians in the media effect the Black lesbian community in any way ?
Gays and lesbians are becoming more visible in the media (the L word, queer as folk etc.) but it seems that the visibility of Black women is very limited. Just want some feedback on this issue.
gr8 q. yeah if anything, it makes black lesbians feel as if they are not represented equally, and they do not have a medium or anyone to relate to. imagine if your friend s a black lesbian and wants to feel acceptance... if she saw that being a black lesbian was more accepted and normal, she'd fel more confortable and confident about coming out. this may also illeviate pressures from an unsupportive homophobic community, or challenge them to accept it as normal.
My political survey shows that the perfect CONSERVATIVE candidate would be a black lesbian who kicks the crap?
Out'a anyone who tries to raise taxes....

We'd get the gay vote, the women's vote the black vote and the republican vote.

Could we get Condeleesa Rice to say that she's a lesbian and unite behind her? She doesn't have to be a PRACTICING lesbian after all...
I just think we need a candidate who will stand up for the right of everyone to determine their own destiny and to be accountable for their own actions. Personal accountability doesn't sell very well for a lot of people who have gotten used to being dependent on government and who do not believe in themselves. This is what liberal policy has done to a lot of people and its sad because they believe Democrats are on the side of the poor and the minorities. It just isn't so. Liberal policies keep people down and keep them poor, giving them just enough to get by and never enough to get ahead. It also sets low expectations for people which is huge disservice. I would like to see Herman Cain run for president.
I am conservative and am not against gay people at all. I am not against any people. I am in favor of people deciding their own fates and living their own lives with as little government interference as possible.
If a black, lesbian woman ran for President against a white, straight, man, would the man stand any chance?
Wouldn't the media take the 100% side of the black lesbian liberal woman, and rip the white straight man to shreds in the election?

Wouldn't it be a landslide win for the black lesbian, in theory?
Roughly 100% of the media would claim "everyone knows" being a black lesbian is the most important qualification for the job ever imagined.
When a black lesbian conservative appeared and disagreed, they would all hurl racial epithets at her (which is weird, since they'd also deny she's black) and viciously IMPUGN her sexuality.
I am looking for a metaphor....a black lesbian book club is like...Can anyone help?
I need a metaphor for a black lesbian book club. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I'm not sure just yet what a black lesbian book club is like just at the moment, but what you're seeking is a simile, not a metaphor. A simile is a comparison: "something is like something else".
A metaphor substitutes words for others to suggest an analogy between them.

Simile: "A black lesbian book club is like a sisterhood of the mind's eye."

Metaphor: "They are a sea of affable volumes."
Anyone Know Of ANY Black Lesbian Movies?
I have already seen a couple. I need help on this one. I'm looking for Lesbian themed movies with Black lesbian couples. Help! I'm not looking for porn folks. Just some good movies with Black Lesbian characters. If anyone knows of any great movies starring Black Lesbian characters, please post the titles and brief description of the movies. Thanks.

There is another film that was first screened on Showtime in 2006.
Tamika Miller's film Sarang Song will have its broadcast premiere on the SHOWTIME CABLE NETWORK February 1, 2006 at 9:15pm as part of the 2006 Black Filmmaker Showcase.

SARANG SONG is a love story of two women set amidst the politically and socially turbulent times of the early 1970s. Their love is tested when one is thrust into the student protest movement and is forced to make a choice – will she choose her love, or will she choose the movement?

I also remember one from earlier this year that was shown on BET's Black Filmmaker's Showcase. It was called "Gift for the Living," and although it dealt mainly with a girl and her grandmother, there was an undertone that her grandmother and her musician friend were more than friends.

Both of these movies, "Sarang Song" and "Gift for the Living" were made by Tamika Miller.

Another film that the Advocate said was be a "cross between "The L Word" and the Whitney Houston film "Waiting to Exhale," the upcoming Griot Soul Films lesbian offering "She Wasn't Last Night" is set to begin production in October, according to The Windy City Times Web site.

The story follows the relationship of the beautiful Shantel, her troubled lover Reyna, and the town player Jack who threatens to rip them apart. The film derives its title from bisexual funkster Meshell Ndegeocello's 1993 song "If That's Your Boyfriend (He Wasn't Last Night)." (The Advocate)"
